LABOUR will have the all-important casting vote on Redditch Council's new powerful executive body despite losing their overall majority in the May 2 elections.
The move caused sparks to fly at last week's full council meeting when councillors met to decide the political make-up of the executive which will make the day-to-day decisions.
Conservative leader Gavin Smithers accused the Lib Dems of allying themselves with Labour in supporting an eight-member executive while he had argued for nine members.
The executive will now comprise four Labour, one Liberal Democrat and three Conservative councillors.
The Tories argued for another councillor leaving the balance of power with the Liberal Democrats.
