A GROUP of businessmen, including some from Chaddesley Corbett, have raised more than £3,000 for a support group for families affected by a rare genetic disorder.
Max Appeal was set up by Paul Wootton, development manager for Wyre Forest Com-munity Housing, and his wife Julie, of Stourbridge, after their baby son Max died from complications from DiGeorge Syndrome in 1999.
The support group, which has helped more than 200 families, was chosen by the Fine 14 - a group of Chaddesley Corbett and Clent businessmen who have been raising cash since the 1970s - as their charity for 2001/2.
They have given a cheque for £3,300.
A golf day will be held at the Abbey Hotel and Country Club in Redditch on Tuesday, June 18, to raise cash for Max Appeal and Birmingham Children's Hospital, where Max was treated.
Anyone interested in taking part can call Mr Wootton on 01562 733070 while more information about Max Appeal is available by calling Mrs Wootton on 01384 821227 or visiting www.maxappeal.org.uk.
