HARVINGTON Golf Society held their first away day of the new season when they made an inaugural visit to Kings Norton.
Apart from obvious problems with the greens, the course was in excellent condition and the weather mainly good for most of the day.
The format was nine holes in the morning and 18 in the afternoon with the main competition being the Norman F Whatmore Tro-phy.
A large field of 26 competitors saw Adrian Bennett play consistently in the morning to take the nine-hole prize on countback from John Locke with 20 stableford points.
The wind freshened and the temperature dropped for the afternoon round and scoring proved more difficult.
Robin Proctor took the Society Plate on 33 points with the overseas member, Norman Frankish, in second place.
However, steady play throughout the day left Locke the overall victor and recipient of the NFW Trophy with a grand total of 52 points.
Results - NFW Trophy: J Locke. PM: 1R Proctor; 2 N Frankish; 3 M Mills. AM: 1 A Bennett; 2 J Locke; 3 R Millward. Longest Drive: D Hartland. Nearest the Pin: D Spittle.
