EVESHAM Cricket Club's youth development programme has been given a massive boost with the generous sponsorship of £1,000 from T & P Scaffolding of Evesham.

Company Director, Tim Davies, said "I have been impressed with the progress Evesham Cricket Club has made with its youth policy and wish to help them with their development plans for young players".

The sponsorship given by T & P Davies has been backed with a matching award from Sportsmatch - the Government's sponsorship incentive scheme.

This will enable the club to run a series of indoor coaching sessions at the Worcestershire Cricket Centre, Evesham.

The sessions will be run by qualified ECB coaches and began on Wedn-esday, May 1 7pm until 8.30pm and will last for 15 weeks.

John Barrett, the club's youth team manager said: "We are extremely grateful to both Tim Davies and Sportsmatch for their support towards cricket at grass roots level. With carefully supervised net practice and one to one cricket coaching we aim to produce local cricket stars of the future".

The Worcestershire Cricket Board has appointed Evesham Cricket Club as the 'Focus Club' for the area and it's cricket coaches will be running coaching sessions at primary and middle schools in Evesham for the next few weeks.

The manager added: "This is further evidence of the club's total commitment to youth cricket and signals our intent to keep cricket alive in the area".

Any young cricketer aged between ten years and 16 years that wishes to receive coaching at the indoor sessions and join the cricket club should contact John on 01386 871125.
