LEON Botha was in magnificent form with the bat as Pershore rattled up almost 500 runs in their two weekend matches.

However, the big-hitting South African couldn't inspire his side to victory in either league or friendly action although the Worcestershire County League first division side will have been pleased with Saturday's draw against Luctonians.

Botha hit 94 in a total of 214-8 with Trevor Ridings adding 53 in a stand of 145 with the Springbok, who blasted eight 4s and seven 6s in his whirlwind knock.

Lea Hawkes then took 4-74 to help reduce the hosts to 142-7 with ten overs remaining but some stubborn resistance denied Pershore the win.

Sunday's friendly at Droitwich saw Botha smash an incredible 153 in 88 minutes of mayhem out of a total of 257-4.

He added 189 for the third wicket with fellow countryman David Senegal (39) but it was Botha who caught the eye with four 6s and 18 4s.

The hosts needed to score at 6 an over to win and they had six balls to spare with Stuart Bryan leading the charge.

The opener remained unbeaten on 129, made from 90 balls, and he helped Brent Hawkins plunder 120 in 15 overs for the first wicket as the chasers made light work of a four-wicket triumph.
