A COUPLE from Kidderminster who have notched up more than 50 years service between them for a major supermarket chain are checking out for a well-earned six-month sabbatical.
Steve and Jacqueline Hemphill, who work at the town's Waitrose store, have opted to spend their 'career break' exploring the country on bikes specially bought for the extended holiday.
Romance blossomed for the couple when they met at one of the store's Birmingham branches 25 years ago.
Initially, neither Steve nor Jacqueline had planned to work long for the company.
Jacqueline, 45, has been employed as a shop assistant since joining the firm at 16.
Steve, 48, is in charge of the meat, delicatessen and patisserie counters.
The couple, who live on the Offmore Estate, moved to Kidderminster 17 years ago.
