THE grieving mother of a Kidderminster man killed in a tragic motorbike accident while holidaying in France has paid tribute to her loving son.

Patrick O'Brien died after his bike developed a mechanical fault on Sunday, May 5 while he was touring with his wife and other members of a motorcycle club.

Mr O'Brien, 53, was born and lived in Kidderminster until about three years ago when he moved to Dublin where he married his wife, Debbie, last year.

He most recently worked for Compco Fire Systems Ltd, Worcester, and was previously self-employed installing sprinkler systems for firms.

His mother Irene Wood, of Queen Elizabeth Road, Kidderminster, said the full circumstances of his death were not yet known but it was believed a faulty part in the front wheel of his bike was to blame.

He came off his motorcycle and it crashed on top of him. He died shortly afterwards, she added.

"He was a lovely man; very loving and giving. He'd do anything for you," she said.

The service for Mr O'Brien, who is survived by a sister, a brother and a daughter, from a previous marriage, will be held in Dublin at a date to be arranged.
