OFFICIALS at Worcester Racecourse have announced that the track problems which marred last Saturday's racing have been repaired.
Twenty-nine horses were withdrawn from the opening meeting of the summer season when owners and trainers voiced concerns over a patch of softer ground on the home straight. An £80,000 drainage scheme was implemented in the autumn but flooding in early spring had meant ad-ditional works needed to be carried out.
However, with the going deemed inconsistent by some owners, the course has had to have more work carried out this week. With the next meeting planned for Wednesday, May 22, officials now say the ground troubles are behind them.
A racecourse statement said: "The top section of lateral and sand slit drains have now been removed and replaced with material which will prevent similar problems being repeated."
