MERCIAN Elgar League champions, Malvern Town Wanderers, proved too strong for Evesham Colts in Sunday's clash.

The opening half was even and goalless but Wanderers struck soon after the break and they then took control.

Colts pushed forward in search of an equaliser but were stunned when the hosts doubled their advantage.

The visitors then conceded two more late on as their proud unbeaten record on their travels was ruined albeit against the section's winners.

United hit back to earn a 2-2 draw at Norton in the final league game but the result saw Rovers take the runners-up spot. Ashley Wilkes and Jamie Coughlin scored for Salford.

Norton's Under-14 side lost 3-1 to Perdiswell in Sunday's League Cup final.

The loss of Ashley Knight with an injury soon after the interval was a big blow. Peter Steadman equalised but two extra-time goals sealed their fate.

Evesham United Under-11s won last Sunday's Worcester City tournament and will be presented with their trophy ahead of the host club's pre-season friendly with Wolver-hampton Wanderers in August.
