WYRE Forest picked up their 54th trophy in 19 seasons when they beat much-fancied Ounsdale 3-1 to take the Kidderminster Harriers Junior Cup for the fifth time.

Better finishing could have seen Forest win the match by half-time but they had to settle for a single goal by the lively Richard Costello.

But West Midlands League Division One North champions Ounsdale started strongly in the second half and equalised after 53 minutes.

Forest were in no mood to give the game away though and regained the lead when Ounsdale's keeper was sent off for fouling Darren Raybould in the area.

Andrew Oakes converted the penalty and Forest made sure of victory with the goal of the game.

Sub Darren Potter netted a spectacular effort as he connected with the outside of his left foot from 25 yards.

Oakes received the trophy from Kidderminster and District Football League chairman Ron Lewis at Aggborough after the game on Sunday.

Forest had produced an excellent all-round team display to earn the success and Costello was voted man of the match.

The Kidderminster-based side finished fifth in Division One South and were disappointed not to end up higher in the table.
