HUNDREDS of people lined the River Severn in spring sunshine on Sunday to cheer on crews in an annual raft race which has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years.
The eight-and-a-half mile Arley to Stourport event was held in aid of river rescue group Severn Area Rescue Association.
The spectacle was back with a vengeance after being called off last year due to the foot and mouth outbreak.
More than 35 crews took part in the 24-year-old race, organised by Kidderminster and District Lions Club.
The fastest raft was Evesham's Viking 1 which completed the course in 92 minutes.
Kidderminster's Sealine International won the section for works crews while Mick's Baby from Kidderminster came up trumps in the ladies category.
The prize for the best-dressed raft went to Kinver Constitutional Club.
"People have shown a lot of interest," said Ron Cross, raft race committee chairman. "The definition of a raft we came to some years ago is something people have to be on, not in."
He added: "The money we give to charities varies but the best was for the children's hospital in Birmingham. We raised £15,000."
