STOURPORT Ladies A team are celebrating a successful winter programme with promotion to Herefordshire and Worcestershire League Division One.

Captain Hilary Hatt's summer side, who also play in Division One, have not started the season quite so convincingly.

They lost at home to Droitwich 2-4 and are 2-3 down to Manor Park, Malvern, with one unfinished.

Against Droitwich, Hatt and Carole Lewis won once as did Lindsay Wilson and Sally Smith.

Smith and Rhian Robinson have to reconvene against Manor Park as, having triumphed in one of their matches along with Hatt and Lewis, the other remains unfinished.

The men's C team have made an impressive start to the season and are already 5-1 up at Manor Park.

Graham Ashmore and Nick Mantle did brilliantly to win both their matches in three sets.

Nick Lathe and Andy Southall also did well, taking their second match in three sets after losing the first.

Gareth Williams and David Read won their first match but their second remains unfinished as the lights went out in a bizarre fashion with the host club running out of tokens for the floodlights.

In the Kidderminster League, the mixed As gained a winning draw at Wollaston with Rob Tarpey and Hatt successful in both their matches.
