How disappointed I was to read Margaret Stuart-Turner's letter regarding the church lighting in Blockley.

I am one of very many people who are delighted with the subtle effect of lighting the church at night.

It was an inspiredMillennium project and provides a visible, warm centre to the village in the hours of darkness.

Blockley has some of the finest examples of Cotswold architecture in the area ranging from mills & mill cottages to the Manor House. Inevitably there are one or two monstrosities that Blockleyites would prefer hidden by the dimming of selected street lamps, but in the main it is a beautiful village and we should be proud of our ecclesiastical centre-piece and keep the lights burning.
