A MEMORIAL stone has been laid at the Malvern grave of Cheryl Lewis, the 22-year-old who died in a road accident in December.

Miss Lewis and her 31-year-old fianc, Paul Kitsull, were both killed when the red Mazda RX7 he was driving hit a barn wall near Upton-upon-Severn on December 29.

Her family started a memorial fund which saw mourners, friends and relatives contribute a total of £1,590.

This was put towards the stone which Miss Lewis' family went to see before it was laid at Great Malvern Cemetery.

"We could not thank people enough for their overwhelming generosity," said her mother Ruth.

"The day was quite traumatic for us all, it brought the finality of things home to us, if you like.

"We take each day as it comes and will always miss her. She was so bubbly - it's hard not to miss someone like our Chezzie."

An inquest into the accident has been opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed.
