A TAXI driver needed 11 stitches to his nose after it was bitten in an attack which police believe was racially aggravated.

The attack happened in an alleyway between Abberley Close and Chedworth Close, Church Hill, at about 1.30am on Sunday.

Two men, who had been picked up outside Time nightclub, refused to pay their fare and then damaged the car as they left.

The 31-year-old driver called fellow drivers for assistance and found the two, who had been joined by six more men.

A dispute broke out between the two groups and the taxi driver was bitten on the nose and punched in the face.

The group of men then ran off toward Chedworth Close before the driver was taken to the Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The men are described as white and in their 20s.

Both were smartly dressed, one was wearing a short sleeved white shirt and the second wore a pastel orange shirt.
