PRINCE'S Trust volunteers at NEW College's Redditch campus raised cash last week to give a much-needed boost to a children's play area.

Volunteers collected £366 through bag packing in Safeway, £70 from a raffle and Halfords donated buckets and sponges for a car wash held on Friday, May 3.

The volunteers must complete a project that will benefit the community as part of their 12-week course and have chosen to revamp a play area at Charford Community Centre, Bromsgrove.

Plans include a lick of brightly coloured paint for the walls and floor and the installation of play equipment.

The aim of the Prince's Trust Volunteers Programme is to help young people unlock their true potential, learn new skills and discover new confidence to gain employment within the area.

It incorporates teamwork and personal development to benefit both the individual and the community.

Anyone interested in joining the next programme or donating money or toys to the play area appeal can call Karen Troth or Eleanor Cameron on 572745.
