A PETITION calling for traffic calming measures in Sidemoor has been presented to community leaders.
Fred Stanley, of King George Close, gathered 160 signatures from neighbours who agree that action must taken to slow down drivers in the area.
Mr Stanley's granddaughter, Kimberley, was nearly hit by a car outside his home and the concerned resident fears the next child may not be so lucky and escape injury.
He presented the petition to members of Bromsgrove District Council's executive cabinet committee last Wednesday night and is now waiting for news.
"We don't want road humps because I think they will be more dangerous because kids will use them as skate ramps.
"I think chicanes are needed to combat the problem of speedy drivers," said Mr Stanley, who has received support from district councillor Cathy Mole (Lab - Sidemoor).
The Worcestershire Highways Partnership manager for Bromsgrove, Jon Fraser, said the situation is being looked at.
