BANK holiday Monday starts this week's results with the Ovation Leisure open held on Lower Broadheath's Sycamore pool.

Lots of double figure results were recorded, headed by Roy Ravenhill (Adroit AC) who pole fished chopped worms at peg 28 for a 32-1-0 catch. At peg 27, Bob McCauley (Phoenix) was a close second with 31-7-0 and third was Tony Brunn's (Ovation Leisure) 26-11-0.

On Tuesday, the Starlets Veterans were at Elmbridge's Heron pool and it was Harold Willey (Kidderminster) who showed the way with a top catch of eight Carp weighing in at 31-10-0 taken with pole and maggots from peg 39.

Ron Honnor (Hall Green) took second place with 21-14-0; third was Brian Hill (Stourport) with 14-12-0.

On Wednesday, the Moorlands Farm Meadow pool open was topped by Tim Guise (Fisherman's Friend) with a pole worm and caster catch of 76-6-0 from peg 15.

Mark Moseley (Wassell Grove) shared the shoal at peg 16 for a second placed 68-4-0. Wayne Mellings (Fosters Tipton) took 47-0-0 for third.

The three-hour evening Meadow pool open was won by Danny Ashington (Midland Match) by pole fishing luncheon meat at peg 27 for an all Carp catch of 67-5-0.

Second was Steve Pickup (Fishermans Friend) with 53-10-0 and third was Alan Higgs' (CSM) 47-0-0.

Moorlands Farm Thursday's special costcutter open was held on the Bank and Meadow pools and Dave Rowberry (Severn Trent) headed a close score sheet by pole fishing corn and meat at Meadow peg 28 for 73-2-0.

David James (Lifestyle) was second, taking 67-14-0 while third was Rob Brennan (Map Starlets) with 60-0-0.

Telfish AC were on the Birmingham and Worcester canal at Stoke Works for their Spring cup contest, won by Kings Norton angler Graham Upton.

Upton drew fancied peg 15 just above the lock keeper's cottage at Astwood Lane where he whip fished squats and pinkies taking a bonus four pound Bream together with Gudgeon and Perch for a level 8-0-0 total.

Runner-up was Brunn with a similar catch for 3-13-0 and third was Barry Price's 2-10-0.

The Starlets Veterans fished their Thursday event on the Valley Pool at Solhampton near Stourport and winner Mike Millinchip (Kidderminster) got the cream catch of 24-6-0 by pole fishing catmeat at peg 25.

Derek Buckle (Bewdley) took 18-12-0 for second, while third went to Geoff Carter (Kings Norton) with 15-4-0.

On Saturday, the Annual 100 AC Invitation Club Championships took place on Lower Broadheath's Island, Old, Sycamore and Willow pools.

Droitwich Spa club Rexel AC showed their wealth of experience to take the trophy with a 73-point tally to put Redditch-based Batchley AC into second spot with 62.

Steering Rexel to victory was Peter Chance, who was staked at Old pool peg six where he pole fished casters in the margins for 52-15-0.

Tom Challingsworth (Batchley) was on opposite Old peg 11 where he fished for a second placed 33-7-0. Third place went to Tony Delves (100 AC) with 32-12-0 from Island pool peg 11.

At Woodlands View, the Arles and Deans pools open saw Tony Holmes (Slapheads) on the shallows at Deans 61 where he pole fished corn up in the water for a ton up catch of 115-12-0.

Team mate Colin Wedgebrow was on opposite peg 34 to claim second place with 84-11-0 and third was Andy Greerley's (Woodlands) 73-0-0.

Lucas College Road AC found the going tough at Greensforge on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal for their first aggregate contest.

Rubery matchman Mal Gittus won with a pole and squat catch of 1-6-0 of Gudgeon and Perch from just below the bridge. Second was Ron Allen's 1-3-0 and 1-1-8 got third place for John Miller.

Sunday's Woodlands View Deans pool open gave Holmes (Slapheads) a weekend double victory by pole fishing corn and meat at peg 55 for 84-10-0 of Carp.

Runner up Nigel Plumb (Shimano Portway) had 68-2-0 with third placed Chris Hill (Fosters MG) taking 56-10-0.

The Moorlands Farm Silver Carp pool open was won by Nick Pountain (Birmingham) with a pole and maggot catch of 34-10-0 from peg 35. Danny Ashington (Midland Match) took 28-4-0 for second and third was Dave Long's (Tewkesbury) 26-6-0.

Eighty-six-year-old Graham Sum showed the younger members of Kings Norton AS how to do it at their latest contest at Kinver.

Just into the match, Sum broke his pole and had to change to rod and line with a waggler to take a bonus Perch together with Gudgeon for a 1-4-8 total, halfway between bridges 28 to 29.
