A BROMSGROVE dancer has achieved her lifelong ambition to win a prestigious scholarship at a dance school in London.

Eighteen-year-old Kelly Haidarovic, of Cirencester Close, discovered she had won the scholarship a couple of weeks ago after a gruelling audition in April at the Laban School of Dance, near Greenwich.

The former Bromsgrove School of Dance pupil was over the moon and is set to start her Bachelor of Arts (BA) honours degree in dance and theatre at the prestigious school in September.

Her mother Diane Haidarovic said: "She was so shocked to get the place.

"I'm very proud of her for getting into such a top dance school.

"It has a good name and a lot of credibility."

The dedicated performer started disco dancing at Bob and Denise Baker's Bromsgrove School of Dance, in High Street, at the age of ten.

Her talents flourished and she went on to compete in national competitions while studying A-level dance at Kidderminster College.

Having crammed in six months of ballet training at the Dance Exchange in Birmingham to get up to the Laban dance school's required standard, this is a double achievement for the former North Bromsgrove High School pupil.

Diane added: "She would like to thank everyone who helped her get this scholarship, especially Bob and Denise Baker for all their help and support."
