Twenty-one-year-old John Warner a craftsman of the R.E.M.E and the only son of Mr and Mrs W Warner of 15 Foster Avenue, Studley, has been mentioned in despatches for his outstanding and courageous work in Korea whilst attached to the Gloucestershire Regiment which formed part of the 29th Brigade.

He served 18 months in Korea and reported back for duty in United Kingdom after enjoying a seven-week well earned rest at home.

He joined the army as a regular soldier in 1948 and still has 14 months to do to complete his five years service.

His father is chauffeur at Messrs Needle Industries Ltd, Studley.
