SIGNAGE denoting where different sections of Warndon Villages are situated could be welcoming visitors and residents alike.

At the meeting of Warndon Parish Council it was agreed that signage in the parish "needs to be improved".

"We call ourselves Warndon Villages and it seems to me if we're going to promote the village theme we should do it more effectively with our signage," said Dave Eastwood, head of planning.

"We don't seem to make the best of our village theme."

Signs would show where each of the different 'villages' started so people would know how to get from one to the other.

Yvonne Griffiths, head of environmental matters and rights of way, said she would like to see all the different streets listed, but this was felt to be impractical due to the large number of streets in each 'village'.

"I find it difficult to know where places are - it would be a good idea to have the roads that are in, for example, Berkeley Haywood, listed on the Berkeley Haywood sign," said Mrs Griffths.

Mr Eastwood said this may be a good idea "as long as it doesn't look like an industrial estate".

It was decided that Mr Eastwood would work out where the signs would go and Mr Bishop, the council clerk, would look at some prices.
