A WORCESTERSHIRE law firm has made a move into the Black Country.

Morton Fisher Solicitors - which already has offices in Worcester, Kidderminster, Stourport-on Severn, Bewdley, Cleobury Mortimer and Bromsgrove - has merged with a Halesowen law firm.

The specialist private client and tax practice of Armstrong Neal has become Morton Fisher's sixth office, giving it a network covering the West Midlands.

The merger brings with it 18 additional staff, together with Armstrong Neal founder, Alan Neal, who will be reintroduced as a partner to the firm he left in May 1999.

Morton Fisher senior partner Jim Quinn said Mr Neal was recognised as a leading regional player in tax and trusts, and his experience in commercial law was equally respected.

"Over the past three years he has grown his own practice to the point where it can benefit from the wider support of specialist lawyers within Morton Fisher who have complementary specialist skills," said Mr Quinn.

"From Morton Fisher's point of view, it gives us a foothold in the Black Country which is something we have been contemplating for a long time."

Alan Neal said he had accepted Morton Fisher's offer to merge the two law firms "with great pleasure".
