KIRSTY Ledger was among the successful athletes to compete in the Worcestershire Athletic Championships at Stourport.

The Worcester Athletic Club member won the girls' 10-12 800m triathlon race in a time of 2min 44.2 seconds.

But it was another Worcester athlete, Emily McCarthy who came second overall with 497 points behind Halesowen's Rachel Walleder who chalked up 698 points.

Javelin thrower Vicki Novell (Worcester AC) came second in the 15-16 group behind Lindsey Berends from Bromsgrove and Redditch AC who threw 28.83m.

Hayley Repton (Worcester AC) ecorded a time of 18min 49.6 seconds to win the women's 13-14 group in the 3,000 metre race walk while Daniel Keen (Worcester AC) jumped 1.20m to win the 13-14 high jump section.

Bromsgrove and Redditch's Joanne Turner leapt 1.45m to take first place in the women's 13-14 high jump.

Chantry High School, Martley pupil Jonathan Hines won the men's 13-14 long jump with a distance of 4.89m from Bromsgrove and Redditch AC's Cori Stanton in second on 4.86m.

Sarah Bradford (Worcester AC) won the women's 13 plus shot putt with a distance of 6.75m while Anna Simmonds (Worcester AC) won the women's 15-16 300m run with a time of 43.0seconds.

Sprinter James Rushforth (Worcester AC) came second in the 15-16 100m behind Jermaine Gregory (Halesowen AC) with a time of 12.1 seconds and was also second in the 13-14 group behind Daniel Fagan (Bromsgrove and Redditch) who won in 12 seconds.

Kidderminster and Stourport AC's Alison Young took the honours in the women's 15-16 300m hurdles in a time of 52.6 seconds.
