A DROITWICH artist is holding his first exhibition in Worcester, courtesy of a student at the King's School.

Professional artist Neill Lowdon has been exhibiting his work at his St Peter's Drive, Droitwich, home since he moved there from Cornwall.

Now his paintings and pastels will be on display in the King's School theatre until Monday, June 17, from 9am to 2pm, except for the half term week beginning Monday, June 3.

The exhibition was organised by pupil Anna Guy as part of her Critical and Conceptual Art AS-level.

"I have worked very closely with him and his wife Lucy, who acts as his manager, to sort out the publicity and exhibition," she said, adding that she had enjoyed the experience and hoped one day to exhibit her own work. A number of Mr Lowdon's pieces on display have inspired by views from fields at Hanbury, near Malvern.

"A lot of my work involves standing in a field for hours," Mr Lowdon said.

"I use the best materials money can buy. I get my paints from the oldest paint company in the world which is in Holland.

"There is not that much difference between landscape and still art.

"There is a feeling you get when you just know you are pushing the limit of what you are capable of and then you know it is time to leave the painting alone."

Over the past 20 years Mr Lowdon has exhibited in London, Germany and France and won an award from the Royal Academy, which allowed him to travel around Europe.
