KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' new boss Ian Britton has the ability to guide the Nationwide League Division Three outfit to greater heights.

That's the view of front-runner Ian Foster and left-back Scott Stamps who this week signed fresh contracts.

Foster, who has put pen to paper on a one-year deal, said: "I think you only had to look at the effort the lads have put in since he took over. There's a spring in the step of some lads who didn't have a good time with the previous manager. We're certainly behind him and I have personally proved that by signing a new contract.

"I think we're in a far better posit-ion now than we were at the start of last season. If we can get a good start then who knows what we could do."

Stamps, who has signed a new two-year contract, said: "There's an excellent spirit within the camp and I'm sure we can finish a little higher up the league next season.

"I know we haven't got the biggest playing budget, stadium or crowds in this division, but on our day we can live with anyone in this league."

Kidderminster's decision to hand Britton the job on a permanent basis following his stint in a caretaker capacity has not gone down well with all fans at Aggborough.

Some feel it shows a lack of ambition and a better proposition would have been someone with more experience and higher profile.

Harriers chairman Colin Young-johns, however, has defended the club's decision, saying: "People have voiced their concerns to me and I understand them because I'm a fan myself, but big names cost money. We are governed by rigid financial constraints."
