A LOVESICK Malvern man, who smashed the window of his ex-girlfriend's car, has been fined £100.

Worcester magistrates heard how Lee Drinkwater went to the woman's home at 3.30am on Wednesday, March 13, after she called off their three-and-a-half year relationship this February.

Sally Hill, prosecuting, told the court that police were called after neighbours heard the 22-year-old banging on the woman's door and shouting up to her.

But, she said, when the woman refused to come to the door, he smashed the window of a Ford Escort parked on her drive.

"When police arrived it was clear he had been drinking," she said.

"He later made full admissions and said he was very drunk. He said he regretted what he had done but it was down to the drink."

Drinkwater, of Moatway, Malvern, admitted criminal damage.

Susie Duncan, defending, said her client had found it hard to accept the relationship breaking up and intended to start a new job in Oxford.

"He just waited for the police to arrive," she said.

"When they did he just said he was sorry and asked to be taken home."

Drinkwater was fined £100 and ordered to pay £55 court costs.
