A GROUP of old school friends are hoping to be reunited with other classmates when they celebrate 30 years of starting secondary school in Worcester.

Andrew Cameron and Sharon Lochhead - nee Brewer - are appealing for former pupils of Bishop Perowne CE High School to contact them ahead of the planned party.

They hope to bring around 100 school chums together in September to mark the day they started at the school.

So far they have tracked down around 40, but hope many more friends will be in touch.

"We think there might be people living all over Europe, but hope they might have family still in Worcester," said Mrs Lochhead.

"It will be good to meet up with everyone before I emigrate."

Mrs Lochhead, of Somers Park Avenue, Malvern, will be moving to New Zealand in November with her family.

The reunion has been planned for Saturday, September 28, at the Whitehouse Hotel, formerly The Star, which is on Foregate Street, in Worcester.

It will mark 30 years of starting at the school on Merriman's Hill and the silver jubilee of leaving.

"Every person knows one other that we weren't in contact with. It's like wildfire," said Mr Cameron, a sales manager living in Welland, near Malvern.

"I went on Friends Reunited on the internet and there was a number of people from our year on that.

"It was quite a good starting point but it's just a question of contacting everyone else.

"We know there's someone living in Latvia but we haven't been able to get hold of them.

"There are bound to be people living on our doorsteps that we haven't found."

Mr Cameron said he was also hoping to contact their former teachers to take part in the reunion.

Pupils at Bishop Perowne CE High School from 1972 to 1977 could contact Sharon Lochhead on 01684 573817 or Andrew Cameron on 01684 311088.
