SHARON Gray, Malvern Hills District Council's head of economic development and tourism, has left after four years with the authority to become a director of Worcester-based Learning and Skills Council.

In tribute to her work, MHDC chief executive Chris Bocock said: "Sharon joined us at a time when the new council had declared economic development as its top priority and there was a lot of hard work ahead.

"At a difficult time, Sharon quickly assembled a first-class team and set about establishing an enviable reputation inside and beyond the organisation.

"Malvern Hills will benefit for some time to come from her achievements here and she will be a hard act to follow".

Sharon's accomplishments include setting up the annual Platinum Awards for Business Excellence, the Malverns Experience, Listening to Business visits and the Annual Business Survey

She was also responsible for the five-year Economic Development and Tourism Strategy, which resulted in the Economic Forum - a collection of partner organisations and key stakeholders who come together annually to review and assess the strategy.

She also played an integral role in the formation of the Enigma Business Park Partnership.
