UPTON baker Aubrey Russell was not the only one pleased by his acquisition of a new mixing machine on Monday.
The Bakers' Benevolent Fund and the Devon Air Ambulance have also benefited from his purchase, which will be used to mix ingredients at his Old Street shop, Cooks Bakery.
Mr Russell successfully bid for the machine in a silent auction organised by bakers' buying company Bako Western at a silent auction on Sunday, April 21.
The £950 paid for the 20-quart table mixer will be divided equally between the two good causes.
Mr Russell said he was delighted with the machine, which was donated by RMH Bakery Services of Bristol, as he had not expected to win the auction.
"I thought 'well, I'll have a go', but I was not expecting to get it," he said, adding it was an item of equipment he would usually consider buying second-hand.
