SILK and Seasons is the title of a new exhibition showing at the Malvern Hills Gallery until May 30.

The exhibition showcases the work of two Malvern artists, Loretta Proctor and Mary Bentall.

Ms Proctor is taking part in her first exhibition. She paints images of natural scenery in different seasons, looking to capture aspects of light and colour. The 59-year-old, from Pickersleigh Road, said she was inspired to rekindle her childhood hobby after she moved to the area three years ago.

"I started off wanting to paint as a girl but gave it up. Since I've come here I got back into it. Malvern inspired me, you might say!" she said.

Mrs Bentall, 60, from Hanley Castle, paints onto silk scarves and occasionally onto silk and card. She said that she mainly paints African imagery gained during her recent trip there. As well as silk painting, she also uses the tie-dye technique.

"About five years ago my husband gave me a kit for Christmas, which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. I was hooked," she said.
