DISTINGUISHED woodturners Liam Flynn, Ernst Gamperl and Jules Tattersall are exhibiting at the Roger Oates Design Studio in Eastnor this month.

The From The Wood exhibition promotes the modern look of 'one off' wooden bowls and vases.

Liam Flynn is from County Limerick and specialises in making hollow-form vessels using temperate hardwoods. He is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Dublin Society's National Crafts Competition and has won first prize eight times.

German-born Ernst Gamperl trained as a cabinetmaker before becoming interested in turning wood ten years ago. He uses massive pieces of wood to create tall cylindrical vessels, or large open or closed bowls. This is the first time his work has been shown in England.

Jules Tattersall began woodturning in 1984 while living in Australia and was influenced by contemporary Australian turners. He now lives in Anglesey and produces works in unusual woods using simple shapes and natural features in the wood.

The exhibition opened yesterday (Thursday) and runs until Saturday, May 18. For more information, call 01531 631611.
