TOMORROW (Saturday) there is a barbecue at the Old Bush, Callow End to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. The event starts at 3pm and is organised by Libby Handy who will bring Anita, her guide dog. Libby is partially sighted and recently raised £217.50 by abseiling down the Giffard Hotel in Worcester for the Royal National Institute for the Blind.

Congratulations to Mrs Marjorie Harris of Bow Hill who raised £68 for Callow End Village Hall by organising a logo quiz. Ninety-three quiz sheets were sold and 12 entries were received. The winner was Marina Lovell of Hanley Castle having 79 correct answers out of a total of 100. She won £20. The second prize of £5 was won by Derrick and Margaret Reynolds of Callow End with 77 correct answers.

On Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, a barbecue will be held at the Old Bush in Callow End starting at 6.30pm. Funds raised will benefit the Powick & Callow End Branch of the Royal British Legion. The branch chairman gave a vote of thanks at the last meeting to poppy organiser Ray Henley for raising £2,039 with his team of local collectors. This was an increase of £200 on the previous year.

The RBL Group 3 rally takes place at Ombersley Court on Sunday, May 19, and will take the form of an outdoor drum-head service. It is hoped many members will take part. For details contact John Mason (01905) 830805.
