BELL Inn '98 lifted the President's Cup, sponsored by The Soccer Site, on Sunday following a 2-0 victory over Morgan Aero 8 at Langland Stadium, Malvern.

BELL INN '98 2, MORGAN AERO 8 0

Playing in front of a generous crowd, Bell Inn 98 laid to rest their recent unfruitful cup final appearances to take home the trophy having worked tirelessly during the game to overcome cup final newcomers Morgan Aero 8.

Peter Brown set the scene for Bell Inn in the opening 15 minutes with a shot, saved by Steve Davies in the Morgan goal. Tim Febery not surprisingly opened the scoring for Bell Inn on 37 minutes. With the ball bobbling inside the six yard area he tapped the ball in from close range to take a 1-0 lead.

Davies had to be at his best minutes later when Peter Boyles' looping shot was just tipped over the crossbar and seconds later Alan Berrows' goal line clearance from a Peter Brown effort kept the score to 1-0 at the interval.

Morgan Aero 8 created chances in the second period, although Ashley Jones scored the crucial second goal for Bell Inn 10 minutes after the restart. With his initial shot coming off the crossbar his second attempt was fired into the roof of the net to increase the lead.

Chances were at a premium for both sides thereafter, however Richard Bird and late substitute Matthew Ilsley saw their shots go just wide of the target.

Bell's David Beech had a chance to further increase the lead in the final few minutes, sent clear and past the defenders his shot was well parried by Davies to leave the final score 2-0.

Malvern League president David Gwynne presented the winning captain Anthony Evans with the trophy and Peter Brown received the man of the match award for his tireless efforts for Bell Inn.
