BULL Allstars were crowned champions of the Malvern Football League Division One on Sunday following their 19th league win of the season at second-placed Club AC 30.

Club AC 30, with the best defensive record in the league, conceded their first home league loss of the season as they were defeated 4-1 by the champions.

This was an entertaining match for the spectators who had come to watch the last league fixture of the season at Perdiswell. Tony Rees and Jason Payton-Smith had chances for the home side in the opening 18 minutes as they enjoyed much possession and it was no surprise when Tony Rees edged Club AC 30 in front from close range within 20 minutes of the kick-off.

Paul James was threatening down the left wing and Jamie James for Bull Allstars had his effort cleared off the line. Minutes later a Jamie Gladwin header just missed the goal, however they were rewarded on 37 minutes when Jamie James struck low into the corner of the net following a quick breakaway.

In the second period Bull Allstars took the lead 10 minutes after the restart with Jamie James adding his second, following good work from Mark Toman and Paul James, whose cross met the head of Jamie James. He made no mistake from 10 yards.

Mark Toman increased the advantage on 70 minutes with his effort from 15 yards, low to the left of Andy Hall in the Club AC 30 goal, after turning the defence. Jon Haywood's effort from 20 yards hit the post for Club AC 30. Minutes later as Club AC 30 pressed forward Arron Parr's effort clipped the side of the post from over 35 yards out.

Minutes into stoppage time and Jamie James completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after a trip inside the area to take a 4-1 lead.

Bull Allstars goal keeper Glyn Morris made an important save following a long range effort from Leon Rooke to round off an excellent team performance from the Ledbury-based outfit.

League chairman Norman H Simmons presented Bull Allstars captain Chris Stone with the championship trophy after the game following this excellent advert for local football. Club AC 30 captain Mark Appleyard picked up the runners-up trophy for the second season in succession.
