AN Oxfam worker has retired from her post after 26 years of working in the Faithful City.

Margaret Brown is looking forward to playing golf and singing in the Pershore Choral Society after retiring from her job as manageress.

Work colleagues held a special leaving do for her when she retired from her job on Tuesday, April 30.

Mrs Brown, a grandmother-of-four, of Rose Hill, off London Road, started as a volunteer in the Mealcheapen Street shop in 1976.

Instrumental

She became manageress 16 years ago.

Mrs Brown was instrumental in getting a second Oxfam in the High Street up and running just over a decade ago.

"I've enjoyed working here," said the 65-year-old.

"I shall need to get used to retiring, but I may do some other charity work in the future.

" I'd like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers I've worked with."
