RANGERS managed to secure their first double of the season following their 3-2 away victory on April 13 with this somewhat incredible score line on Saturday.

MALVERN RANGERS 5, BRINTON ATHLETIC 3

In the opening minute Brintons hit the side netting and generally, with the wind and slope in their favour, enjoyed the majority of attacking play in a somewhat lacklustre first half.

Just before the interval Rangers took the lead when Chris Allen gained possession and fed Chris Davis, who finished well.

Early in the second half Rangers increased their advantage through Chris Davis and minutes later Marc Lines gained possession on the edge of the box and expertly chipped keeper Batsford to make it 3-0.

On the hour Brinton's Sam Pountney was sent off but what happened then was quite remarkable because within the space of the next 15 minutes it was 3-3. Sean Lynch missed his clearance and a well taken goal reduced the deficit. Five minutes later and it was 3-2 when a cross from the left to the far post saw Sean Lynch clear the ball off the goal line but the linesman adjudged the ball was in.

Minutes later a good strike by Liam Stubbins equalised, to his obvious amusement, aimed at the Rangers bench, which resulted in a caution.

However three minutes later Chris Davis completed an excellent hat-trick and soon after Ian Hill fed the ball to Davis and he strode on to thunder a left footed shot home to score his fourth goal.

Just before the end Liam Stubbins received his second caution to be the second Brinton player to be dismissed.

Man of the match was Chris Davis.

MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 5, MALVERN RANGERS 0

ON the previous Thursday evening Rangers visited local rivals Malvern Town Reserves for a league fixture and with numerous first team players in the team, the home side were far too strong for Rangers in virtually every position.

Town went 2-0 up inside the first ten minutes through Gary Smith and Keith Holmans and another strike from Barry Hughes saw a 3-0 interval lead.

A second half brace from Lee Hooper completed the scoring.

Man of the Match was Mark White.
