A NEW national event The Game and Country Fair to be held on the Three Counties Showground from September 6 to 8 is already attracting some of the major players in the countryside with the Countryside Alliance, the NFU and the CLA all giving their support.

The show, organised separately from the Three Counties Agricultural Society, is being headed up by show director David Morris, a former Three Counties Show organiser, who explained: "The Fair has been organised to bring those involved in the countryside together and provide a boost to country businesses."

Attractions already planned include a corporate hospitality suite with champagne bar and clay pigeon shoot, gundog and falconry displays, a large trade stand area including gunmakers' and fishermen's rows, a full programme of main arena events, a countryside themed fashion show, a 4x4 driving course, food and wine exhibitions and clay pigeon shooting competitions with "have a go" sections for allcomers.

Tony Halls, showground general manager at TCAS said: "With the Game and Country Fair being a major contributor to visitor numbers there are likely to be some substantial benefits to businesses in towns around and the countryside in general."
