THE civic funeral of former Kidderminster mayor Steve Roberts who died suddenly three weeks ago at the age of 50 will take place on Saturday.
A service at St Mary's Church, Kidderminster, at noon will be followed by interment in the churchyard of the town's St John the Baptist Church.
Current mayor Councillor John Stev-ens, the town's charter trustees and officers will lead the civic mourners.
Mr Roberts, leader of the district Liberal Democrat Group who represented Sutton Park ward on Wyre Forest District Council, died after having lunch with a friend.
He was delivering leaflets for today's district council elections when he collapsed after eating a fish and chip meal.
A post-mortem rev-ealed Mr Roberts died of natural causes.
