EVESHAM United manager Phil Mullen is targeting Worcester City striker Mark Shepherd to spearhead their Dr Martens Western Division campaign next season.

The 23-year-old forward is out of contract at St George's Lane this week and has attracted a lot of interest from a number of clubs.

Mullen admitted he would love to secure Shepherd's services to boost his forward line at Common Road.

"It is an area we need to improve and during my time at the club we have never been prolific up front," he said.

"We've got goals from all over the place but Shepherd would give us a bit more quality in that area which is what I am looking for."

City manager John Barton is set to announce his retained list next week but Shepherd, who started in the club's last three games, appears set to move on.

Shepherd, who made his debut against Clevedon Town in February last year, made 52 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals.
