DO you have a SLUG problem? If you are a regular Kidderminster train commuter, then you may well have!
Stourbridge Line User Group (SLUG) is a voluntary organisation aiming to further the development of the rail service for the benefit of passengers.
Although the name implies efforts are concentrated on Stourbridge, Kidderminster receives continual attention from the group's committee, with regular monitoring of the station's facilities, and the punctuality of services.
Attention at the moment is concentrated on Railtrack's refusal to allow an hourly weekday service, by Chiltern Railways, from Kidderminster to London, which was due to commence this autumn.
If you have a view on this or any other issues, why not come and air your views, and listen to those who operate the services.
SLUG will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday at 7pm at St Saviour's Church Hall, Worcester Road, Hagley.
Present will be senior managers of Central Trains, West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority,Chiltern Railways, Centro, and the Rail Passenger Committee Midlands.
SLUG members are drawn from the local community along the line between Birmingham and Worcester, with a large percentage residing in Kidderminster.
An elected committee of six volunteers meets bi-monthly to discuss issues.
I can be contacted on 01384 820040 for further information.
