LONG Compton booked a place in the Nursing Home Cup final and gained revenge for a knockout defeat at the hands of Needlemakers the previous week.

Brothers Phil and John Smith and Simon Garne were the scorers and they will now face Campden Town in tonight's final at Stratford Town's ground.

Robbie White spearheaded top flight Town's progress with a hat-trick against plucky division two champions Alcester Lions.

The Lions had earlier booked a semi-final date in the R M Smith Cup at the expense of Long Compton.

On the same night last Thursday, Needlemakers hit seven goals without reply against Stratford Spartak.

There was a shock in the Journal Premier Division as newly crowned champions Bretforton Old Boys slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Shipston.

There were only two scorers when the Badsey rivals Rangers and United locked horns with a hat-trick from Nick Burrows enough to see off Martin Schembri's double for United.

While Shipston's first string were seeing off the champions, the London Road club's second string were hit for six by Henley Forest.

After one of the driest Aprils on record, rain has returned with a vengeance during the past week and a waterlogged Redditch United pitch caused the postponement of Tuesday night's Alun Rees Trophy final.

The match will now take place at the Valley Stadium on Tuesday, May 14.

On the same night, Redditch Borough's hopes of a semi-final place in the R M Smith Cup were dampened as Spartak Park doubled their goal tally to land a 4-2 quarter-final success.
