UPTON Snodsbury retained the Tewkesbury Sports Knockout Cup with an extra-time win over neighbours Peopleton at Common Road on Sunday.

Peopleton took the lead after 18 minutes when Oscar Peterson ran on to a through ball and finished superbly.

Five minutes before half-time Upton were awarded a penalty for handball. However, Tony McLean's shot was saved by man of the match Kalvin Adcock.

The second half was dominated by Upton and, after a succession of missed chances, Neil Annis equalised.

The game moved into extra-time and Peopleton regained the lead when a Peterson free-kick found the net following a mix-up in the Upton defence.

Despite the setback, Upton continued to dictate play and three goals in the last 12 minutes decided matters.

First Annis equalised with a header, then Richard Brixey unfortunately headed past his own keeper before a Steven Spencer header completed the scoring to bring Upton their third success in five years.

Moreton Wanderers clinched the first division title for the first time in emphatic style defeating nearest rivals Evesham WMC by six goals.

The Workies, who needed to win by seven goals, took the lead through Hemsley before Aizpuru equalised and Winter gave Wanderers an interval lead.

The second half was one-way traffic with Wanderers playing the free flowing football that has deservedly won the title. Further goals from Winter, Harvey, Payne and Berry (2) gave the large travelling support the result they wanted.

Willersey completed their successful Division Two campaign with victory over Lower Moor. Wood (2) and Reeves put Willersey in control before goals from Stanley and Puttock gave Lower Moor some hope.

Pershore finished fourth in Division Three after a Marc Badger goal defeated Salford Rovers.

Mountinneers require a point from their final league game to clinch runners-up spot in Division Four following defeat at Shipston Sport. The home side scored through Faulkner (2) and Sheehan.

Bretforton VIC Reserves finished on a high note as four goals from Lynes defeated Tewkesbury Town Reserves.

The league will conclude on Sunday with the final of the Evesham Mechanical Services Subsidiary Cup between Willersey and Inkberrow, at Broadway United FC, kick off 6pm.
