Pershore Tn 1, Alveston 0

ADMINISTRATION changes off the field threaten to take the shine of what has been a marvellous season for Pershore.

Dave Connell's side appear set for a top six finish in the Premier Division of the Midland Comb-ination after recording a second win in the space of three days.

Teenage substitute Alex Cook was Saturday's hero after Pershore had won 3-2 at Massey Ferguson last Thursday night.

The 17-year-old notched the winner 19 minutes from time after Lee Tustin and Simon Brain had come closest to breaking the deadlock.

Struggling Alveston hit back strongly and Neil Turner produced a fine stop five minutes later to preserve Town's lead when he got his fingertips to an Ashley Puliciano free-kick.

Richard Pincher's header was just over the top before the visitors saw another goalbound eff-ort deflected off a defender. The corner came to nothing much to the relief of the hosts.

They must wait until next Mon-day to round off their league campaign at Meir KA (6pm) but Connell's charges have the chance to add more gloss to their season when they face Barnt Green Spartak on home soil tomorrow night (7.30pm) in the Pershore Hospital Charity Cup final.

The match is sponsored by Richard Williams Estate Agents and admission is £2 to include a raffle. Concessions 50p.

Things might be all going smoothly on the field but a couple of resignations have upset matters at committee level.

Tony Bradstock, who has been chairman since the club re-formed in 1988, has decided to step down, while Don Roberts, who has acted as treasurer and the club's general secretary for the past four years has also resigned.

The chairman, who admitted he now "found it difficult to raise the enthusiasm to do the job correctly" felt that it was "time for a change", while Roberts is believed to be making plans to move abroad.

The club stages its annual general meeting on Sunday, June 9.
