SWIMMING: A tremendous 18 first places ensured Wyre Forest Swimming Club won the Mercian Summer League first round at Tamworth.

Several of the club's top swimmers could not compete as the competition for swimmers aged 10 and over is not for anyone with a Midland district qualifying time.

Forest claimed five seconds and 10 thirds alongside the rich number of wins out of 50 races.

The Ross Junior League third round took place at Ledbury in which swimmers are penalised for getting speeding tickets.

Two Wyre Forest members, Ben Barnaby and Joe Dyer, took tickets with personal best times.

Wyre Forest swimmers gained six first places and 11 seconds, while nine-year-old Scott Allin, competing for the first time, was in the boys' second-placed backstroke relay squad.
