MOTORSPORT: Kart-racing star Nathan Freke was a winner again at Fulbeck but he had to struggle.

It has always been a problem track for Freke but Saturday's practice went well and he was consistently the fastest driver.

On Sunday's race day, most of the drivers switched to new tyres but the Kidderminster teenager decided against this.

Freke secured pole for the A final with two wins and a seventh place in the three heats, including fastest laps in two of them.

He made a good start to the final to clinch a lights-to-flag victory but his poorer tyre started deteriorating during the race.

Freke enjoyed valuable experience for the forthcoming round of the British Short Circuit Championship at the same venue in two weeks.

He defends his British Open title in the first round of the British Long Circuit Championships at the weekend.
