PLANNERS in Wyre Forest have given the go-ahead for a 15-metre high telecommunications mast to be erected in Stourport.
Stourport Civic Society strongly objected to the development at the Severn Waste pumping station at the junction of the Worcester and Hartlebury roads, east of the River Stour.
The society and two neighbours who also objected argued the development created an eyesore in a recognised beauty spot.
But Wyre Forest District Council's planning (development control) committee refused an application by Orange for a five-metre extension to an existing 15-metre telecommunication tower at Habberley Golf Course.
A report to the committee said the site was in the green belt and an area of great landscape value.
An application by BT Cellnet to put up a 15-metre high telecommunications mast at Tip Top Accident Repair, Worcester Road, Kidderminster, was withdrawn by the applicant.
