PUPILS from a Bromsgrove school are springing into action to ensure their garden boasts beautiful blooms this summer.
Green-fingered children from Meadows First School reception class have received a bumper donation of gardening equipment and seeds from the Littleheath Garden Centre, in Littleheath Lane, Lickey End. And Webbs of Wychbold has given the children 120 petunia plug plants, compost and pots so they can take part in the National Garden Centre Association Competition.
The youngsters have each planted a pot of seeds and will shortly be sowing their vegetable plot. Parent helper Teresa Peppercorn has been helping the young gardeners at the Stourbridge Road school.
"The children love to be working outdoors and they are fascinated by how seeds turn into plants," she said. "The children will be so proud when they see the fruits, and vegetables, of their labour."
New projects such as a teapot garden and a wellie boot patch are funded through a small garden party, which is held each year in June.
