EVESHAM players were at the forefront of Worcester-shire's match winning performance against Bedfordshire.

The women's B suffered a 4-2 defeat. Claire Hill and Rachel Leeming both lost but last on, Carol Jones, won in straight legs.

The men's B team lost 7-5 with Rob Heming losing 3-1. Man of the match was Simon Webb with an average of 26.84.

The score after the first day's play was a disappointing 11-7 to Bedfordshire.

For the women's A team Tracey Bishop lost the first leg but came back to win with a worthy average of 21.51.

The game of the day was thrown by Rachael Dixon who won 3-0 with an average of 25.91. This gave her the lady of the match award and the award for the highest average in the division.

The women's A team's 4-2 win brought the score to 13-11. Eight points were required of the men's A to seal victory. Second man on, Ray Bishop, won 3-0 bringing the score to 13 all.

The next games went to Bedford. Worcestershire won the next three, but lost the next two for 16-14. Worcestershire won two of the next three with Lance Gregson winning 3-2 to take the overall score to 18-17.

The atmosphere was electric as Tom White shouldered the responsibility of winning the last match. A nail-biting contest unfolded with White winning the first and third legs and his opponent the second and fourth.

White eventually won 3-2 and brought the match home 19-17 giving the county their second successive victory.
