ENTERPRISING youngsters scooped a double success to win the accolade of Wyre Forest's champion school company.

Ethos of Hagley's Haybridge High School - led by managing director Russell Tucker from Blakedown - beat five other companies to land the Young Enterprise trophy and £100.

The company, which produces bead bracelets, also produced the best performance at the presentation evening at Kidderminster Town Hall and has proved so successful it has donated £300 to Wyre Forest Deaf Children's Society from its profits.

Young Enterprise is a national scheme to help pupils develop business and personal skills by forming and running companies.

Beryl Curtis, a "link teacher" who advised the 21 sixth formers who make up Ethos, said: "The scheme is not just based on how much money they made - it's also how well they worked together.

"They have learned a lot - about financing, marketing, production, getting good suppliers - and they have had to deal with problems."

The group will now represent Wyre Forest at the Hereford and Worcester finals on Wednesday.

Image of Holy Trinity School, Kidderminster, was runner-up while a special award for effort went to Stourminster School.
