TWO Kidderminster choirs are set to join forces at the town hall this weekend to raise funds for the biggest ever visit to the twin town of Husum.

Kidderminster Male Choir and their female equivalent the Valentines will team up for a special concert on Saturday evening to mark the Silver Jubilee of the Kidderminster and Husum Twinning Association. Valentines choir musical director Pam Cunningham with the bowl designed to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the official twinning of Kidderminster and Husum.

Up to 100 members of the two groups are planning to visit their German counterparts in August next year as part of the 400th anniversary celebrations of Husum's Town Charter.

And one lucky audience member will win a permanent reminder of the evening courtesy of Valentines member Mary Lovell.

Mrs Lovell has created a china bowl to mark the 25-year milestone since the link between the two towns was made official.

She gained a diploma from the British Porcelain and China Artists Association in 1994 and has exhibited her work, which has also featured in magazines across the world.

Kidderminster Male Choir this year celebrates its 98th birthday and is the current holder of the Welsh Association of Male Choirs Choir of the Year title.

Members go into Saturday's concert fresh from their first ever visit to Australia.

The Valentines were formed in 1988 as a group of wives, daughters and friends of male choir members and have since gone from strength to strength.
